Perma Passive

Perma Passive is built on the belief that thoughtfully designed, minimalist homes can remain accessible without compromising environmental responsibility. Our work focuses on sustainable housing concepts that balance affordability, performance, and long-term livability.

The design brings together permaculture and Passive House principles, forming a modular, relocatable housing system that adapts as people’s needs change over time. Flexibility is integral, supporting small homes, compact living, and adaptable layouts that evolve alongside lifestyle and location.

Construction incorporates detailed Passive House airtightness measures and prioritises the use of 0 VOC, non-toxic, natural building materials, supported by modern fire-retardant technologies where required. Each element is selected with indoor air quality, occupant wellbeing, durability, and thermal performance in mind.

We work with established suppliers whose materials and processes align with sustainable building practices, environmentally responsible construction, and long-term material performance.

Through this integrated approach, Perma Passive supports healthy homes, minimalist living, and a more thoughtful relationship between people, place, and the built environment.

  • Sarah Nottle

Based in the Perth Hills, I am a founder, entrepreneur, and mother of two, with a background in international corporate management. Over more than 15 years, this experience has supported extensive research into alternative housing, building systems, and materials across some of the world’s highest-ranked countries for sustainability.

My work is grounded in the belief that the homes we live in should be carefully considered for their impact on health, wellbeing, and the environment. Housing is not separate from how we live — it shapes it.

Guided by the view that responsibility begins with action, Perma Passive exists to explore, educate, and apply thoughtful building principles, transforming vision into practical, liveable outcomes.
